Baseline#
Records every enabled source with no stimulus. Use it for plain recordings, to measure the room's noise floor and the camera's frame rate before other experiments, and whenever you want to record every source.
Choose
Baseline, select sources and set the trial timing (or choose Until stopped on the Recording page).Start. Trial markers are still logged so the timeline can be segmented later.
AcousticTransfer#
Plays sounds and measures how they arrive at the microphone (acoustic system identification).
Turn the system volume low. Place the microphone where you want to measure.
Choose
AcousticTransferand a Waveform — Chirp is a good default.Set start/end frequency, amplitude (max 0.1 FS) and optional AM.
Start. Spectrum, speaker-to-microphone correlation and transfer magnitude appear on Analysis → Signals.
Sham#
Runs the same schedule as an audio experiment but never plays sound. Record it as the control condition and compare against active sessions.
Multimodal#
An audio protocol that also records microphone and camera together. The aligned feature vector appears on Analysis → Evidence & state.
OpticalCalibration#
On the Camera source's + Settings, choose the camera index and set the Optical ROI (x, y, width, height as fractions of the frame).
Sit still in steady light with skin (face or fingertip) inside the ROI box shown on the Live Monitor camera preview.
Record for at least 10 seconds.
Analysis → Evidence & state shows the optical pulse candidate in bpm with its spectral resolution and quality when the signal passes quality checks; otherwise it reports the candidate as withheld.
ContactExperimental#
For setups where a person touches the speaker or a vibrating surface.
Choose
ContactExperimentaland tick Enable experimental contact protocol.Click 250 Hz regime or 40 Hz regime to set a sine at that frequency, or set the waveform manually.
Set amplitude and trial timing, then start.
LoopbackCalibration#
Measures the delay between NOESIS submitting a sound and the microphone recording it.
Place the microphone against the speaker, or connect a cable from audio out to audio in.
Choose
LoopbackCalibrationwith waveform Noise, PRBS or Chirp. A pure sine is rejected because its delay is ambiguous.Start. Every trial is active.
Read the result under Analysis → Loopback timing calibration: mean delay, spread, each trial and any rejected trials with the reason. The Dashboard synchronization tile changes to
loopback measured.
Shortcuts: --loopback-sim (synthetic, reports exactly 12.000 ms), --loopback-smoke (real, quiet noise), --latency SESSION (recompute for a saved session).
VisualStimulus#
Shows full-window visual stimuli and logs every rendered frame. See Visual stimuli for every pattern and parameter.
ReactionTime#
Choose
ReactionTime. Configure the visual stimulus — a short Solid white flash on a black background works well.Keep Randomized balanced active/sham on: sham trials become catch trials with nothing shown.
Add 1–2 s of onset jitter so onsets cannot be anticipated.
Start. The participant presses any key, clicks or taps as soon as the stimulus appears. Responses count within 1.5 s of the first rendered frame.
Results appear on Analysis → Evidence & state: hits, misses, anticipations (< 100 ms), false alarms, correct rejections, mean / median / SD reaction time and a per-trial list.
HapticStimulus#
Delivers controller rumble trials. See Haptic stimuli.
